Chapter 2: Invest in yourself and what matters most to you.

I have come to terms that I will never be able to please everyone around me and that is completely ok. There will be people in life who will support me, while others may belittle me. But, I know I am becoming the best version of myself each and everyday and that is what matters most. When I started investing myself, I learned to make myself a priority first. I needed to make the necessary changes in order to get where I wanted to be. Although the journey was not easy, it was worth every step in the long run. I’ve always kept this quote with me, “what comes easy never lasts, and what lasts never comes easy.” Dreams don’t happen in overnight, you need to be patient and work hard to get to where you want to be.

When you invest in yourself, it is one of the most humbling and pivotal moments in your life. You are starting to take steps into making your dreams a reality. However, you will have to make necessary changes and sacrifices to get to where you want to be. For example, you will need to put in more time and effort into molding your dreams. At times, you will find yourself struggling and want to give up. But, the moment you feel a heavy weight on your shoulder, acknowledge your progress. Look how far you have come, and keep on moving forward. I know it seems easier said then done, but you are much stronger than you might think. It’s all about the mentality we set for ourselves. It’s normal to fear failure, but don’t allow yourself to let it rule your mind. No matter if you win or lose, it’s all about choosing to get back up and keep on fighting for that dream of yours. If you really want that dream, keep on working towards it until it is yours.

Last Sunday, I attended a virtual mass and the priest said something that really stuck with me the most. His homily was everything, in which he spoke that it is important to not give into the negativity of the world. Also, he shared an amazing bible verse that has been one of my favorites, “For I know the plans I have for you, Declares the Lord, plans to prosper you not harm you, to give you a future and hope.” Honestly, I was in awe because I felt that I needed this. It was at that moment, I was reminded that I am exactly where I’m suppose to be. It times of doubt and difficulties, know that God is not punishing you. He is preparing you for something greater because you were born to be extraordinary.
