Self Love
Self love all day.
Learning to love yourself takes a lot of time and patience. It’s not just about loving the flaws and imperfections. But, appreciating yourself for you and no one else. Here’s some of my own personal ways of how I learned to love myself.
Take time to write. || I don’t know when I started to fall in love with writing, but I really fell hard. It’s a daily routine of mine. I’m always writing everyday on my laptop, personal notebooks, and even a post-it. Just letting it out. One time, I was talking to my love and he was one of the reasons for my post “Do What You Love.” To me writing is so beautiful, because it allows me to get things off my mind and chest. I feel like whenever I write, I really let myself go. I let myself be authentic and real.
Explore. || There’s so much out there in the world places to go, people to see, and so much more knowledge to gain. Life is not meant to be perfect, but it’s important to remember that life is beautiful. Despite the bad that happens in our world, it’s important to remember there is still good out there.
When I started making it a routine going to the city, I felt like I was able to really take the time to reflect. New York really does have a special place in my heart, because I’m able to find inspiration for my writing. The coffee shops, the food, and much more. Since then, I loved traveling on my own. Because it allows me to be own and reflect on my life.
A few months ago, I chose to take a vacation to Barcelona. It was one of the best decisions I made. It’s so different there, but it somehow reminded me of the city except they speak Spanish or Catalan. I was able to practice my Spanish there, so it was pretty fun. I would have never thought imagined myself traveling out of the country by myself. But, sometimes you just have to be daring when you book a last minute trip.
It’s amazing to explore what’s out there in the world. When we do, we learn to really appreciate life for what it truly is: beautiful.
Read. || Whenever I read, I feel like my mind is taken to another place. Where I’m just focused on knowing what’s going to happen on the next page. I used to not like reading, but then I stumbled upon books that interested me. I like reading about life and love. For me, reading opens my mind to what’s out there. Some give me the hope and the words I need to know everything will fall into place.
Reflect || Wherever I am, I like to take the time and appreciate everything I have. ( Appreciating the little and big achievements) Also, taking the time to tell myself “good job” after a rough day. Lastly, confront your sad feelings, and just cry it out sometimes because it’s okay. It’s okay to be sad sometimes. But, remember that it’s only a bad day, not a bad life.
I like seeing myself as my own teleysere. Of course, I’m the main character but I’m also the writer. I have the power to change what’s going to happen right at this very moment and tomorrow. If you don’t like something, change it. Whether it’s changing your own mentality or moving across the world for the one you love.
Always remember YOU are in control of your own story. No one else.
Discover || Whether it’s discovering new hobbies or meeting new people. It’s all about having an open mind to the endless opportunities out there for you. For me, I found a love for boxing, it literally takes a majority of my stress away and pushes me to want to better myself. Plus, it made me want to push myself to going to the gym and stay consistent.
I love being able to allow myself to really grasp in everything I have and what I want to achieve in my life right now and in the next few years. There’s so much I want to do. This is something I learned awhile back, and it taught me to take a step back and see how grateful I am to be alive and well. Taking time for myself allows me to think about the now, and where I want to see myself in the next few years. All my worries and fears, are in God’s hands.
